We are delighted to welcome two new scholarship holders to the group!

Muhammad Arief Wicaksono

Muhammad Arief Wicaksono has received a full four-year scholarship from the Indonesian government. He will move to Aachen and join the GIM until July 2030 to pursue his PhD on ERT/GPR exploration of critical minerals.

Muhammad Arief Wicaksono is a geophysicist from Indonesia and an LPDP scholarship awardee. His research focuses on geophysical imaging and monitoring, with a particular emphasis on developing advanced inversion and modeling techniques to improve subsurface characterization for mineral exploration.

Over the next four years, he aims to advance geophysical inversion methodologies, publish in leading international journals, and strengthen scientific collaboration between Indonesia and Germany. Through his research, he hopes to contribute to more accurate, efficient, and sustainable mineral exploration.

Wei Shen

Wei Shen, from the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), has received a CSC scholarship and will visit us for one year, from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027, as part of his PhD. He will work on novel machine learning assisted inversion workflows with uncertainty analysis.

We look forward to their contributions to our ongoing research and to supporting them throughout their time with us. Welcome to the GIM!
