Seismic surveys can be done using different sources of seismic waves. Very common in industry surveys are explosives and vibrator sources using large vibrotrucks. Small-scale seismic surveys often make use of hammer strokes as sources. In addition, there are small-scale vibrator sources like the ElViS VII.

In combination with our newly acquired seismic system, we want to test the properties of different seismic sources at hand. We want to quantify and evaluate different characteristics, like the frequency spectrum of the available hammers and compare the accuracy of a geophone as a trigger with a short circuit trigger. We want to quantify the reproducibility of the seismic source wavelet when using our vibrator source and in case the reproducibility is sufficient, we want to evaluate the time efficiency when using a prerecorded source wavelet for the correlation in comparison to recording the wavelet new during each shot for the correlation. With that we want to infer best practice guidance for future measurements.

Note that this project can potentially be split into several theses depending on the demand and candidate's interests.
